Work in progress paintings, new drawings \u00a0and a 2023 \u00a0collaborative print for sale. We look forward to seeing you!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Tracers &#8211; a collaboration<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-893\" src=\"http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Sketches-300x236.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Sketches-300x236.jpeg 300w, http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Sketches-768x605.jpeg 768w, http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Sketches-571x450.jpeg 571w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>TRACERS : \u00a0I am delighted to \u00a0been invited to collaborate with Glasgow-based performance artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collective-edinburgh.art\/programme\/stephanie-black-daniels-position-attachment\">Stephanie Black-Daniels<\/a>, in this new cross-generation project \u00a0between October 23- February \u201924. \u00a0It will be based on Stephanie\u2019s research \u00a0into the history &amp; experiences of women \u2018Tracers\u2019 in the Glasgow Shipbuilding Industry in the early\/mid 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century. \u00a0I am excited about working with Stephanie, returning in a new form the\u00a0industrial maritime genre that I explored back in the &#8217;80s &amp; 90&#8217;s. Its a beautifully curated exhibition, and my work from the City Arts Centre Collection \u00a0\u2018Study for Three Bridge Evening\u2019 is is represented adjacent to a magnificent Catherine seascape by Joan Eardley. \u00a0 Here I am at the preview with co-curator James Knox, director of the Fleming Collection, and Charlotte Rostek who wrote the excellent accompanying publication. \u00a0until January 8th 2024<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">A painting for the Paris Olympics ! &#8211; Dialogue\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-898\" src=\"http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Detail-The-Manse-Cherry-2020-21-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Detail-The-Manse-Cherry-2020-21-300x225.jpeg 300w, http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Detail-The-Manse-Cherry-2020-21-768x576.jpeg 768w, http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Detail-The-Manse-Cherry-2020-21-600x450.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>This exhibition was sadly cancelled due to Brexit issues<\/p>\n<p>We went to Paris by train instead on holiday and had a much needed holiday, but I was so sad for this event not to take place. No longer being a part of Europe is a tragedy for Artists and for everyone, we are intellectually and creatively \u00a0the poorer for it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Conversations with Joan&#8217;<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> a forthcoming Solo Exhibition 2024<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-920\" src=\"http:\/\/www.katedownie.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Siblings-1-1-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"265\" \/>&#8216;Siblings&#8217; will open next September 2024 at the award winning <a href=\"https:\/\/womenslibrary.org.uk\">Glasgow Women&#8217;s Library<\/a>, and will feature the body of work created during my 2021-22 research and &#8216;completion&#8217; of the unfinished painting by Joan Eardley &#8216;Two Children&#8217;, as well as my final work &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/glasgowmuseums-exhibitions.co.uk\/joan-eardley\/\">Four Children 1962-2022&#8242;.<\/a> I am currently working on a series of \u00a0painted banners for this exhibition which involve collaborative work with siblings of all ages.<\/p>\n<p>More news to follow on this as the project develops.
