‘Beyond the Karmsund’ was the view from my Norway studio, looking across from the island of Karmoy over the port town of Kopervik towards the glaciers and mountains of the mainland. I was fascinated by the long light produced by the low slant of the sun, as being so unusually north, sunlight was in short supply at that time of year. The island, situated on the northern side of the Stavanger Fjord, was one of the hosts for the North Sea Project, a visual arts exchange between Scottish and Norwegian Artists during Stavanger City of Culture 2008.

The work was exhibited both in the Kopervik  Kulturhus in 2007 and in the Watermill in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland in my solo show 'Sea Room' May-June 2008.
