Kate Downie

First exhibited in the Coast Road Diaries, this work is predominantly drawn with bamboo pen & brush, using both Indian & Chinese inks. It was made as homage to both this corner of Sutherland in Scotland, but is also referencing the drawing art of Frances Walker . The view is based on the magical winding road that runs from Drumbeg to Lochinver, as seen from a hill just south of Clachtoll. The poetry of the Wednesday Road comes about through the fact that everything to do with the subject happened to take place on a Wednesday, that most useful and productive of days for taking a magical journey.
