All the best work made from my travels to Dumfries & Galloway to research the coastal area inspired by the artist Archie Sutter-Watt seemed to centre on this particular low tide corner of Sandyhills. In the end, the work became a contemplation of the serene ambiguity of seemingly endless mudflats and wet sand, punctuated by simple rocks, rock pools and salmon nets.
The work is currently on tour in the exhibition ‘The Coast Road Diaries 2007-2009’. A 64 page publication based on the exhibition is available from The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh Scotland £10 + p&p.
