This painting was indeed made on my first night in Old Slains. I had been thinking and planning my visit for so long, that to actually be there making art was a huge release. The gable end of the cottage is illuminated by the headlights of my old Ford Fiesta. Cars became ‘mobile lighting units’ for much of my gloaming work that summer, especially in the film ‘Driven’. This painting was made whilst wearing a head torch, so it’s a bit rough and unexpected.
